long time.

'sbeen a while now han't it. miss me?
*cricket*
how has it taken me this long to find the greatest Australian things around?

KITO + REIJA LEE

Kito in particular. considering this aussie gal has released tings on Skream's label AND diplo's label ... what have i been so distracted by that it caused me to miss this duo
(probably shiny things)
there's a big ol boost on her facebook page, read up here and she'll tell you how legitimately fresh she is. valid point.

their kickin Sweet Talk EP is very rebecca & fiona-style, with sharp percussion, mad bass, melodic trance synths and haunting female voices. exactly what we like.

if you're a sorta Icona Pop, Purity Ring, Rebecca&Fiona type like me, dig in PLEASE
i haven't found one thing by Kito that's less than perfect.

YOUR TASK:
1) find the youtube videos for all the songs on the Sweet Talk EP
2) enter the links in to offliberty.com
3) mad payoff

ENJOY. happy summer ducks.

new things to dance to

so many new tings! i hate doing big blog posts but it seems necessary now doesn't it.

TRAMPBOAT
the Finnish duo (yet another outlet for us to exercise our mad scando love) finally birthed a new glorious single. considering the soundcloud looks like a caterpillar that went through a shredder, things are guaranteed to get wild
it's seems to be begging for vocals.... DJs of the world, have at it. it's cool, i'll wait.

SWINDLE
is that cowbell i hear.... SOLD.
the Londonner who once brought you this pretty ting now brings you new tings, as you see below. didn't expect the drop to bring about some good ol UK Funky, but oh what a pleasant surprise
dang i hate crappy outtros. can't wait for it to be officially released so we can skip the uncomfortable fade out.

THE MAGICIAN
just getting into The Magician and loving his steady, straight up indie groove
no surprises, just a really clean and funky. have a new remix he did of a nifty RAC track.

signing off.
cheers.

lapalux

this is how i feel about this song:

Not a massive fan of ambient electronica but this little trick by
LAPALUX
is so percussive and painful that i've fallen in love.

for one thing: LIANNE LA HAVAS has the most exhaustingly beautiful voice. so wonderful it's tiring. a wicked songwriter too, check out more super cute funny tings by her here

but it's the little tricky ticks and knocks that Lapalux layers over her ghostly sweet soul voice that spice up this heartbroken ballad.

a wonderful achievement.

where have i been all my life...

hunched under a rock perhaps? how else would i have missed this London-native drum&bass master.

SUB FOCUS

a really nice balance between drum&bass and electronica, with a cute little periodic sub quiver.
yeah... in a word: balanced.
nifty video too.

for another nice part-trance-part-dubstep-part-wicked-light-show video of his try this out
get dancing kids.

london baby

meant to discuss this back when it came out in February.
but then a unicorn ate my internet. oops.

LONDON 2012
of all the opportunities to expose the best in underground (well... hardly over there) electronic / dance music, this is the big one.
so stoked for my favourite revolutionaries to get some kicking exposure and really represent not just UK music but LONDON. music.

First to pop up on the international scene, my dearest
KATY B
in the London Coke ads. power baby.

of all the percussion to that could be used to accent electro beats--there's nothing like a ping pong ball.
of course it's not her best. and of course 1L of coke uses 9L of water (not exactly my favourite of all corporation) but ultimately this year London is gonna have some sensational world exposure. get ready and keep those ears peeled.

rae.

i'm an all daydreamer now.

hold up...
EXAMPLE + FLUX PAVILION
woah.

Daydreamer premiered last night somewhere on the London radiowaves, but for all of us isolated on this side o the pond, it arrives in video form a little later.

enjoy some killer bass and example's shining voice sliding down a rainbow.

later days.

like a freakin ray of sunshine.

good heavens i think i'm beaming...
etta bond WHO EVEN ARE YOU?
i first found this little gal mashing up some acoustic ed sheeran:

but who woulda thunk that this stunning acoustic soul voice would be the first artist signed to LABRINTH's label, not to mention collaborate with Wretch 32.

what's this i hear?
soul... UK... grime... DUBSTEP?!
WHO IS THIS WOMAN?!
her and katy b seem to have the perfect formula down: a smooth soul voice on vicious grime/dubstep beats. i die. gets right in my bones.

approved.
cheers ducks.

foxes

so... FOXES.
this chick. watch out for this chick.
This cute London native just released her new single on Neon Gold Records, and it'll change your life. Marrying her soft and strong vocals with swelling sub, pounding timpani and subtly distorted electro production, she's exploding as soon-to-be pop royalty.
It's unexpected, it's movement, it's brilliant.

It's rare to see a singer-songwriter attacking a song with the structure of a house track.
It's perfectly balanced, well rounded, subtle and strong. give 'er a listen.

Youth is one of those "no matter what mood you're in" tracks...
here for more
here for less

cheers.
