ALL OF THE LIGHTS

LIGHTS
alright if you don't know this woman already... chances are you're just not Canadian.
but i saw her this weekend and of course she blew my mind... her outstanding sophomore album Siberia has been the soundtrack to the last 5 months of my life.

here's her unreal single Toes (remixed here by a dear friend of mine)

of course her lighting was supersonic awesome.... what else can one expect.

my favourite photos are always the ones that capture quiet moments at a loud show.
this one's SO similar to my favourite photo from a girl talk show this fall.

yeeeah.... that's without zoom. how is she so beautiful.
she lives up to it all:
the soft, flawless vocals of Flux and Flow with that vicious distortion.
that mysterious, ethereal thing in Where The Fence Is Low with its subtly unforgiving bass.

great night. what a woman.

that's my dj

on this fine thursday eve, thought i'd drop you one nice little ting.
it happens to be the most beautiful photograph i've ever taken.

don't roll your eyes.
stop.

it was taken from my cell phone at a GIRL TALK show in halifax.
smack at the front. dancing like mad. huge sweaty men brutally trying to push past me
(nice try. come at me bro.)
with bass pumping in my ears.
but whatever. that's all symptom, after thought.

it's not about that.
it's about the perfect moment between strobes when all is still as salt.
all the girls dancing on the stage--irrelevant.
the confetti--irrelevant.
the sweat, the drunk kids, everything--irrelevant.

all that matters is the wonderful man who feels like he has all the power in the world in that soft glow from his laptop. in that glow is the thing that's changing the business of music, changing things.
all in that tiny light.
it all comes back to him.
beautiful.
