new things to dance to

so many new tings! i hate doing big blog posts but it seems necessary now doesn't it.

TRAMPBOAT
the Finnish duo (yet another outlet for us to exercise our mad scando love) finally birthed a new glorious single. considering the soundcloud looks like a caterpillar that went through a shredder, things are guaranteed to get wild
it's seems to be begging for vocals.... DJs of the world, have at it. it's cool, i'll wait.

SWINDLE
is that cowbell i hear.... SOLD.
the Londonner who once brought you this pretty ting now brings you new tings, as you see below. didn't expect the drop to bring about some good ol UK Funky, but oh what a pleasant surprise
dang i hate crappy outtros. can't wait for it to be officially released so we can skip the uncomfortable fade out.

THE MAGICIAN
just getting into The Magician and loving his steady, straight up indie groove
no surprises, just a really clean and funky. have a new remix he did of a nifty RAC track.

signing off.
cheers.

where have i been all my life...

hunched under a rock perhaps? how else would i have missed this London-native drum&bass master.

SUB FOCUS

a really nice balance between drum&bass and electronica, with a cute little periodic sub quiver.
yeah... in a word: balanced.
nifty video too.

for another nice part-trance-part-dubstep-part-wicked-light-show video of his try this out
get dancing kids.

i'm an all daydreamer now.

hold up...
EXAMPLE + FLUX PAVILION
woah.

Daydreamer premiered last night somewhere on the London radiowaves, but for all of us isolated on this side o the pond, it arrives in video form a little later.

enjoy some killer bass and example's shining voice sliding down a rainbow.

later days.

like a freakin ray of sunshine.

good heavens i think i'm beaming...
etta bond WHO EVEN ARE YOU?
i first found this little gal mashing up some acoustic ed sheeran:

but who woulda thunk that this stunning acoustic soul voice would be the first artist signed to LABRINTH's label, not to mention collaborate with Wretch 32.

what's this i hear?
soul... UK... grime... DUBSTEP?!
WHO IS THIS WOMAN?!
her and katy b seem to have the perfect formula down: a smooth soul voice on vicious grime/dubstep beats. i die. gets right in my bones.

approved.
cheers ducks.

was gonna tweet about this but i use too many words.

sometimes i desperately wish i had an orchestra to rework my favourite dubstep tracks
the new FEED ME EP is out and up and runnin and alive and kickin.

he somehow made a dubstep/pop/metal-ish rock opera work.
it's a MEAN way to start off his EP.
SUPER heavy. watch out kids if you're not into dubstep. it will knock your eyeballs behind your brain and scare ya grandma.
but i feel like it would lend itself so nicely to orchestration.

hello little strings :)

the whole EP is very interesting. starts heavy, ends heavy (with Gemini!) and has some interesting electro house moments in between. if you can scour the interwebs for it i'd recommend it. i mean let's be real, it's Feed Me.
it's dirty and nasty and delicious.
enjoy you little minions. <3

ALL OF THE LIGHTS

LIGHTS
alright if you don't know this woman already... chances are you're just not Canadian.
but i saw her this weekend and of course she blew my mind... her outstanding sophomore album Siberia has been the soundtrack to the last 5 months of my life.

here's her unreal single Toes (remixed here by a dear friend of mine)

of course her lighting was supersonic awesome.... what else can one expect.

my favourite photos are always the ones that capture quiet moments at a loud show.
this one's SO similar to my favourite photo from a girl talk show this fall.

yeeeah.... that's without zoom. how is she so beautiful.
she lives up to it all:
the soft, flawless vocals of Flux and Flow with that vicious distortion.
that mysterious, ethereal thing in Where The Fence Is Low with its subtly unforgiving bass.

great night. what a woman.

a little dancehall whines up to some nasty dubstep. can't WAIT for the EP release.
(was that a little sample of Surfin Bird? spotted. i see what you did there Diplo.)

nasty bass

have we talked about example yet?
well the man's easily my number one UK rapper... seen him twice live and his songs lend so well to performance... he's so fresh and inventive in dance music, mixing catchy hooks with rap with dubstep/drum n bass/house that is a little dark, a little happy pop, but not overwhelming.

what a strapping young brit.
well his latest single MIDNIGHT RUN (with a pretty stunning video shot in Iceland) has had me on a little treasure hunt of finding beats.

it's got so many layers and sections but it works... oh just wait for that cheeky dubstep breakdown at the 2.53 minute mark. snuck up and bit ya didn't it.
one of the best two tracks on the album for SURE.

found out FEED ME produced the track. so i had to further investigate the realms of the interwebs to find this gem of a brit DJ.

this thing is freakin beautiful. just beautiful.
enjoy, kids.

festivelectronica time?

although i've been happily burying myself in tchaikovsky, little boys choirs and classical christmas times, i'm feelin a break.

and isn't the best christmas gift of all
kahlua
ryan gosling
spankin new beats!

thanks gabe flaherty for spicing up my day.
keepin my late afternoon going with some chiptune fun, twinkly bells, santa vocals and dirty bass. greatly appreciated.

also check out last year's Eggnog (that sounds rank) if you're still thirsty.
love and rockets

SBTRKT

there's always been an interesting thing going on with head gear in electronic music.

but i recently came across this lovely man with his own little spin on the the mask deal.
SBTRKT.
sound it out kids...
"ssseeebtrrrreeekkkkttttt........ SUBTRACT!"
well done.

what a boss.
i may as well let him explain himself... he claims to...

"rather not talk about myself as a person, and let the music speak for itself. The name SBTRKT is me taking myself away from that whole process. I'm not a social person, so having to talk to DJs to make them play a record is not something I want to do. It's more about giving them a record as an anonymous person and seeing whether they like it or not. If they play it, they play it."
(shamelessly quoting his wikipedia page. wut of et punk.)

I must say it sure as hell speaks for itself.

i'm just not gonna write anything more here.
afterall it is kinda perfect, like just about everything that's ever come out of london.
bloody wanks.

and of course if that last one's a little too pop for you, drake did a remix down here...

i just want it louder.

she deserves a way longer post.
but she must promptly be represented here in all her east london glory .

goodness me KATY B.

saw her at Wembley in the UK, been a long time fan.
damn this east london dubstep/grime/house little vixen is my ultimate.
she's perfect. that's all. just listen. you're welcome world.

love you long time katy.

shameless plugging of the boy who lives in my basement.

of course.
within hours of starting this blog and 2 hours of his latest release
i'm already plugging Gabe Flaherty.

we've all been through the dubstep Adele remixes. although I love me some soft female voices thrown up against nasty ass bass that'll leave your speakers weeping, it's kinda been done.
and kinda been beat over the head with a crowbar

But this. kid.
makes the illest mixes.
he'll throw you a classic house beat with just enough dubstep to ground it in the soles of your feet, then shake it up with essentially everything you'll want in a remix.
There's variety, there's balance, it's just ill.

Also every so often a little nostalgic chiptune pops in.
just to remind you of your Anamanaguchi days of the tenth grade... but without being overwhelming.
cause let's be honest those were dark times.

i can't get over his remix of Toes.
Of course the new LIGHTS release, Siberia has been the soundtrack to my autumn and i'm bound to like just about anything coming out of that cheeky little canadian.

this chick absolute dynamite, and he treats her well... the remix highlights her.
it's true to her style of intergalactic melody but pushes it to the max--while still complimenting her simple but powerful vocal melodies.

this kid's great.
he's in the LIGHTS remix contest and he's gonna OWN so please vote for the kid.

please?
