(weakest pun ever in the title.... it's a gaga christmas present.... marry the night.... merry... marry.... pathetic.
go to sleep.)
BOOM BABY. UNRELEASED GAGA B-SIDE.
literally just released. RAWR. vicious. bluesy and ferocious, aggressive and raw. in her own words...
(PS the little "i don't want another boy or a girl" little chunk is definitely purposefully off... there's no way this goddess could actually be not perfect... and it's consistantly flat. in fact i commend her on being able to sing badly)
frick that song's delicious. time to fall asleep to it. happy christmas children. i wish you happy little dreams, you monsters of rock xo
the furs are out, roads are icy as all hell--yes that metaphor makes sense, read dante's inferno, the place is freakin frigid--and the spiked egg nog is bound to ensue.
my master recipe:
+ +
(in a really cute tea cup)
but in my family home christmas music is big...... it's big. always reminds me of my mother.
it's when we put on bing crosby, trans-siberian orchestra, vienna boys choir and electro David Foster that the vaulted ceilings just scream at me: home.
so i thought i'd throw together my christmas favourites.... which i'm quite traditional about but i'll spice things up a little without anything getting too gaudy. there's no way in all icy hell you'll find mariah carey on this list.
here goes.
first and foremost. the man himself. BING. there is literally no other man for me. he'll always have my heart.
i refuse to listen to covers of that song cause who could ever find that vibratto whistle and low, warm thing quality of the bottom of his range... there is no greater sound that exists.
but of course gaga always has a way of winning me over. if there's anyone who could come close. it's the woman herself.
NEXT. i used to beg my mother to put on this album. our copy is so destroyed. I honestly don't know why I love this song so much. i didn't know it was carol of the bells until I was about 14... but i'm rambling. it's grand.
and because I can't resist more bing...
i hope that's enough to start off your decembers. happy christmas :)
I'm pretty sure I saw it the moment it came online :)
but i had to leave myself some time to sleep on it before I developed a concrete stance on it.
if there's one piece of advice i'll give you, it's to
always. sleep on it. everything's better in the morning.
LADY GAGA
marry the night
oh have i ever been waiting for this. and it's one of her best.
the prelude is brilliant. it's the most important part of the film. her insight makes it personal, afterall she is a first-time director. but it's essential, and explains the premise of it all: it's an embellishment of her past.
did you recognize the blue lips, colossal sunglasses and familiar blonde bangs at the end? tripping over her new gorgeous outfits. it's not just her rise to fame. it's her rise to The Fame.
and she has managed to make her life a piece of art. she's not made art that's a depiction of her life. but her reality has become art. what a woman.
it's romantic.
it's fantastical, in the sense of the word fantasy.
MARRY THE NIGHT. can't wait for the video... always loved the powerful old-school-house-reminiscent chorus (do i ever not talk about old school house?) and the woman herself is directing it so it's gonna be a dream. especially if she keeps up with this short hair thing... damn.
and no i'm not talking about the prelude silly... that's been out for an eternity.
